About the book

Adopted from rural Paraguay to London as a baby, Pandora returned for the first time at just 19 years old. Against all the odds, and within days of arriving and searching the countryside, she found her biological family.

A decade later and after many visits, Pandora shares her deeply personal and unique story. Through photos, journal entries, short essays, poetry, and reflections, the everyday and the extraordinary are woven together to paint a portrait of…Not Just A Day in Paraguay.

“Terrific. Insightful,
moving, and even informative."
“I highly recommend this excellent book. It is a story of personal discovery woven in with first-hand portrayal of the day-to-day life of a poor rural family in Paraguay and all brought to life with magnificent imagery. As the author says, “Where a life story and photography come together, sympathy can be replaced with empathy, assumptions can be replaced with learning and stereotypes can be replaced with relatable experiences”. This is a very daunting task but Pandora has most definitely achieved it."
“Through intimate photographs and heartfelt reflections, Pandora shares a deeply personal homecoming story. Weaving together lived experience with the broader social and economic realities of Paraguay - including the politics of land and the far-reaching impacts of agribusiness expansion - Not Just A Day In Paraguay traces the delicate ties between identity and belonging, revealing the quiet strength and deep beauty of rediscovering family, self and connection."
